We need regulatory innovation
just as much as we need tech innovation.
just as much as we need tech innovation.
01 A global program to facilitate empirical-based AI regulation As part of Open Loop, we invite you to engage with a vibrant, worldwide community of AI companies, including Meta. Our aim is to co-create sound and operational AI governance, frameworks and discuss best practices and technical insights with industry peers. |
02 Applying a fresh method to support rule making through real life testing Similar to how AI iteratively learns from the world around us, we can learn a lot just by trying and doing. Open Loop seeks to apply the same concept to this program through a high level of exploration and an experimental trial & learn approach. |
03 Ensuring a 360-degree view by leveraging diverse perspectives Bringing together governments, civil society, academia, and tech companies, from startups to larger organizations, helps us better understand the different perspectives from the entire ecosystem: from those researching, building and deploying, to those regulating and using new technologies. |
04 Bringing together the worlds of policy and tech Policy should learn from technology and its design process as much as technology should learn from policy and its values, principles and frameworks. With Open Loop, we want to ensure that both technology and policy have a better understanding of each other and a shared mindset in order to improve the quality of the rule making process. |

Open Loop is a global program supported by Meta that bridges the gap between tech and policy innovation, fostering a closer collaboration between those building emerging technologies and those regulating them. We partner with governments, tech companies, academia and civil society to co-create and test new governance frameworks through policy prototyping programs, and to support the evaluation of existing legal frameworks through regulatory sandbox exercises.
